The Cool Way to Reduce Fat.™
The CoolSculpting is a new, non-invasive way to gently and effectively reduce fat in targeted areas of your body, resulting in noticeable, natural-looking fat reduction in the treated areas. What makes the CoolSculpting different is its advanced cooling technology that targets and eliminates fat cells. Unlike traditional invasive surgical procedures, the Zeltiq Procedure is non-invasive, with no needles and no incisions. There is no need for anesthesia or pain medications and there is no recovery time.
Technology by Zeltiq.
The science behind the CoolSculpting, called Cryolipolysis,™ was developed by world-renowned dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Their research showed that fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cooling than other surrounding tissues, and that fat cells can be safely eliminated without harming the skin. This discovery led to the development of the non-invasive Zeltiq Procedure.
Cool technology. No downtime.
During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells in specific areas of your body. When fat cells are exposed to cooling during the CoolSculpting, it triggers a process of natural removal, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer. The result is a reduction in fat bulges that is visible in most patients in about two to four months.
CoolSculpting is comfortable for most patients. No anesthesia and/or pain medication was needed during treatment by any patients in clinical trials.
How does the CoolSculpting work?
During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells in specific areas of your body.
What happens to the fat cells?
The exposure to cooling causes the fat cells to begin a process of natural removal, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer. The fat cells in the treated area are gently eliminated through the body’s normal metabolic processes, similar to how fat from food is eliminated.
What are common post-procedure effects?
CoolSculpting is completely non-invasive, which allows immediate return to normal activities such as work or exercise. Redness may appear in the treated area, and may last from a few minutes to a few hours. Some localized bruising may occur, which clears within a few weeks. Many patients experience a temporary dulling of sensation in the treated area lasting one to eight weeks.
Does CoolSculpting hurt?
CoolSculpting is comfortable for most patients. No anesthesia and/or pain medication was needed during treatment in any patients in clinical trials. Typically patients are comfortable enough to read, work on their laptop computers, listen to music on headphones, or simply relax during the procedure.
How long does the procedure take?
Procedure time can be two hours or more depending on the size of the area to be treated. During your consultation, your clinician will discuss how long your procedure will take and how much time you should allow for your office visit.
Is there downtime after the procedure?
There is no recovery time after the procedure. You may resume your normal activities on the same day as your procedure, including work and exercise.
How long until I notice results?
In properly selected patients, CoolSculpting results in a noticeable, measurable reduction in fat bulges in two to four months. At that time, you and your doctor can meet to assess your cosmetic improvement and consider additional Zeltiq Procedures to achieve greater fat reduction.
How many treatments will I need to see results?
Two to four months after your initial procedure, you and your clinician can meet to assess your cosmetic improvement and consider additional CoolSculpting treatments to achieve greater fat reduction.
How long do the results last?
Patients experiencing fat layer reduction show persistent results at least six months after CoolSculpting treatments. Longer-term studies have not been completed. The elimination of fat cells as a result of CoolSculpting is expected to last about as long as fat cells removed by invasive procedures such as liposuction.
How is CoolSculpting different from other procedures?
The controlled cooling of CoolSculpting targets and eliminates only fat cells. Other treatment modalities such as lasers, radiofrequency, and focused ultrasound affect fat cells and may affect other adjacent tissue in a way that is not comparable to the Zeltiq method of cryolipolysis.
How much does it cost?

Each cycle with the regular size treatment head can treat the area of about the size of a cube of butter. Average size people can treat their tummy in 2 cycles and each love handle in a cycle. For under the bra strap back fat, you can usually get it in one cycle per side. If you have more than a small amount of fat, most areas need to be treated 2 or even 3 times for best results, with treatments spaced at least a month apart. We limit treatments to two cycles per session since each cycle lasts an hour.
The large treatment head treats 2.5 times as much volume in the same amount of time as the regular size treatment head. Most people will be able to treat their tummy in one cycle with the large head. Some opt to treat half their tummy and one flank (love handle) per cycle with the large treatment head.
There’s a nonrefundable $100 deposit to reserve your treatment time which will be applied to the cost of your treatment. However, if you do not give at least 24 hours notice to cancel your appointment, it will not be refunded.
